If you or a loved one have been injured on the job and need medical care, it is important to know if you are covered under a health care network. Your employers Workers Compensation insurance carrier will pay medical providers directly for the treatment of your work-related injury. If your claim is covered under a health care network, you will need to see a doctor that is covered under that policy. If you are not covered by a network, then you have the right to choose any doctor you wish as long as they are not on the list of doctors who have opted to not provide health care to individuals covered by workers compensation. You can find that list of doctors here. If you choose a doctor that is out of network, then payment for you visit will not be paid by your workers compensation carrier. Additionally, if you wish to change your treating doctor, you must get approval from your local Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers Compensation field office by filing a DWC Form-053.
